Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

We are seeking a Staff Developer on our SDLC Foundations team, focused on building and evolving the foundational platform capabilities that every engineering team at 1Password relies on. This team owns the Feature Rollout Service (our centralized feature flag platform), Typeshare, developer experience tooling, and the emerging experimentation platform. You'll serve as the technical DRI for foundational platform work, owning architectural decisions that raise the bar for how engineers across 1Password build, ship, and operate software safely and confidently.

How we’re using AI today

Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience in a production SaaS environment.

  • Hands-on experience building and evolving platform-level services: feature flagging systems, schema management, developer tooling, or experimentation infrastructure.

  • Proven ability to design scalable backend services and APIs that span multiple product surfaces and teams.

  • Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives that require alignment across frontend, backend, platform, and product stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Go.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering direction beyond your immediate team, and to move ambiguous, high-impact problems forward with autonomy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build shared understanding across engineering, product, and infrastructure stakeholders around complex technical decisions.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience building or migrating to centralized feature flag or A/B testing systems at scale.

  • Familiarity with schema type systems and cross-service type safety approaches.

  • Experience working on developer experience tooling (build tooling, local development environments, CI/CD, changelog automation).

  • Familiarity with Nix, monorepo tooling, or code generation frameworks (e.g., Typeshare).

What you can expect:

  • Play a foundational role in shaping how 1Password engineers build and ship features reliably and safely at scale.

  • Drive the evolution of the Feature Rollout Service (FRS) from a client-facing flag centralization service toward full service-to-service communication, retiring legacy patterns along the way.

  • Lead the architecture and delivery of the Experiment Platform (Horizon 1), enabling 1Password teams to run consistent, trustworthy experiments across product surfaces.

  • Partner with platform and product engineering teams to ship Typeshare 2.0, improving cross-language type safety and developer ergonomics.

  • Improve developer experience through org chart automation, schema type refactoring, and tooling that reduces friction and toil for engineering teams.

  • Establish technical guardrails and best practices that ensure platform velocity does not come at the cost of reliability, security, or operational maturity.

  • Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar for platform thinking across the organization.

  • Influence roadmap decisions by grounding strategy in technical constraints and infrastructure opportunity.

  • Stay hands-on in implementation work where architectural depth is required.

We’re looking for individuals who are proven experts in their fields, as well as those who are highly adaptable, can thrive in ambiguity and through change, are curious, and above all deliver results.

How we work with AI
We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. O Guia Definitivo para Conquistar a Vaga de Front-End dos Sonhos no Mercado Atual

O Guia Definitivo para Conquistar a Vaga de Front-End dos Sonhos no Mercado Atual

Escrito por Mondywork - Plataforma de Vagas | Especialistas em Carreiras Tech Remotas

Atualizado para as demandas técnicas e comportamentais do cenário tech global.

A Evolução do Papel do Front-End

  • Core Web Vitals: Você deve dominar as métricas oficiais do Google (LCP, INP e CLS). Leia a documentação oficial do Web.dev.
